Companion

Companions will provide direct companionship and supportive engagement to individuals served, Assist participants in community-based activities, social engagement, and life-skills development, Support individuals in building independence, confidence, and daily living skills, Encourage participation in structured programming and recreational activities, Assist with transportation support during community outings when required, Promote positive behavior, inclusion, and respectful interactions, Observe and report participant progress, needs, or concerns to supervisory staff, and Support implementation of individualized service plans and program goals.

About the Position

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities

  • Assist with daily living activities such as hygiene, meals, mobility, and routines

  • Support individuals in building life skills and increasing independence

  • Encourage participation in community activities and social engagement

  • Implement individualized service plans and behavioral support strategies as directed

  • Maintain a safe, supportive, and respectful environment at all times

  • Document care provided, observations, and progress accurately and timely

  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, families, and care teams

  • Support transportation to community outings and appointments when needed

  • Respond appropriately to behavioral or crisis situations using approved protocols​

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Compassionate, patient, and dependable

  • Ability to work with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities

  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team

  • Must be able to complete required trainings and certifications

  • Valid driver's license
